The idea behind Gullholmen Konstmuseum originated in a group of artists
who discovered Gullholmenīs unique charm and its specific light in the
beginning of the 1850s. From 1920 a boarding house, Nilsson`s Pensionat,
gave the artists board and lodging. Throughout WW I and WW II the
Swedish west coast was a safe haven for these artists and a place of inspiration.
This is reflected in their work. Most of the artists are represented in the major art
museums in Sweden. The museum aims to exhibit one or more representatives from the different decades and to give future generations the chance to follow how Gullholmen has changed during the years. Welcome to a unique atmosphere combined with artefacts from Gullholmen once with a sailing fleet of 70 ships used for fishing and freighting. Sune and Ingemar |
